Introduction

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the online group "Journey Through the Bible in 90 Days"! Here is some information on the material:

1. It would be helpful to use the Bible in 90 Days book in order to read, but it is not mandatory. It is available on Amazon, CBD.com, and for eReaders.
2. The 90 day plan is also on Youversion for smartphones and tablets.
3. It's important to remember that this group is NOT a Bible study. It is a plan to read the whole Bible. Hopefully I'll be able to add some helpful information and tidbits about the readings, and we'll be able to generate online discussions and questions.
4. This Saturday June 1st is our first day of reading. The reading plan is included in the 90 Day Bible and it is also here:

5. I will post on Saturdays and will also encourage discussion during the week. This blog site will be our group forum. Let me know if you have any questions!

Here are some FAQs from the 90 day website (http://biblein90days.org/):

Frequently Asked Questions about the Bible in 90 Days
Why 90 days?
The program is 90 days because most people can wrap their minds around doing something for 90 days. Imagine giving a person a choice to diet for three months… or twelve. Which is more likely to succeed?
From day one, the end is in sight. This becomes important at some point for each participant. The reading IS a challenge, though most participants tell us it is a manageable challenge. And the payoff more than compensates.
Why does it work?
It works for many reasons. Here are a few:
§    Time frame: 90 days vs. a year (or more) is more doable and easier to commit to finish.
§   Readability: The Bible in 90 Days Bible uses  large print, minimal footnotes for distraction, and is an easy to read translation.
§   Community: There are weekly online meetings for support, fellowship, accountability and knowledgeable insight.
§   Support materials: Bible in 90 Days provides just enough additional materials to keep participants engaged in reading the Bible, but no more. We don’t want you to be reading support material instead of the Word.
§   A lowering of barriers: By tending to many of the practical aspects of reading the Bible, we foster an environment in which the participant is more likely to recognize the leading of the Spirit that he or she read and be transformed by the Word.

How much reading is involved? Do participants actually read the entire Bible?
Yes, participants reading the with the Bible in 90 Days program will read every word of the Bible. This is not an abridged program.
Participants can expect to read for about an hour each day for the 90 days of the program. Those using the official Bible in 90 Days Bible will read 12 pages (of that Bible) per day.
Do I have to use the official Bible in 90 Days Bible?
No, you do not have to use the official Bible in 90 Days Bible, but your chances of success increase dramatically if you do.  You can read more about using the official Bible in 90 Days Bible here.
Can I listen instead of read?
To participate in the Bible in 90 Days program, you must read each of the words of the Bible for yourself. This is not a listening plan, but instead is a reading plan. If you’d prefer to listen to the Bible, there are many other options elsewhere to help you do that. Many folks have told us that it helps them to listen to the Bible WHILE they are reading it.
Bible Gateway has an audio Bible you can use for that – just be sure you’re listening to the 1984 NIV version, and select the book and chapter where you’d like the reading to start.
Youversion also has a 90 day plan that you can read (and listen to) on your phone or tablet.
